PEELING

Rediscover your skin's natural glow

ABOUT THE TREATMENT

Our skin undergoes harsh conditions as result of various causes like exposure to ultra-violet sunlight, pollution, use of makeup and misuse of some creams. This results in dull, wrinkled, sagging skin.

Skin peeling treatment exfoliates the skin by removing the dead cells and making way for new skin cells to develop. There are various methods of skin peeling treatment like Yellow Peel, AHA Peel, and Chemical Peel.

People suffering from skin problems like acne, peeling skin, blemishes, pigmentation, skin discoloration, scars etc should think about skin peeling treatment as an option.

TYPES OF TREATMENTS

CHOOSE THE RIGHT ANSWER

Chemical peel – It is a skin-resurfacing procedure in which a chemical solution is applied to the skin to remove the top layers. The skin that grows back after a chemical peel is smoother and younger looking. Chemical peels are used to treat wrinkles, skin discoloration and scars - typically on the face.

Chemical peels are cosmetic treatments that involve the careful exfoliation of the skin using an acid. The acid removes a uniform amount of damaged skin cells across the treatment area. When done appropriately, this allows the skin to heal, with minimal scarring or color changes as a result of the treatment

Chemical peels work both on the epidermis and dermis layers. The glycolic acids act on the epidermis to exfoliate the outer layer. The papillary layer of the dermis can have increased levels of collagen and elastin created through activation of fibrolasts. There are 3 levels of peels (mild-glycolic acid, moderate-TCA, deeper-Phenol).

The various types of peels are available as treatment options:

Yellow mask Peel-It enhances the oxygen supply to the skin and it makes the skin firm.

Tretinoin mask Peel- Which is rich in Vitamin A and thus rejuvenates damaged skin. Usually available as 5% and 10 % concentration.

Alpha hydroxy acids Peel (AHA peel)- It work with different mechanisms to remove the superficial layer of skin, known as the keratin layer. They are the best treatment for skin lightening and use various acids like citric acid from malic acids from apples, lactic acid from milk, and glycolic acid from sugar cane.

Chemical Skin Peeling treatment – It is performed through skin cleansing. Chemical Peel includes Salicylic Acid Peel which helps to open the pores and destroys the acnes that cause the bacteria to progress and make further damages.

Trichloroacetic Acid Peel – It is performed to cure severe skin damage. It works well with conditions such as melasma (skin discoloration), scars caused by the sun, severe acnes and pigmentation.

Phenol peel- The strongest form of chemical skin peeling and usually requires anaesthesia. The procedure requires a long recovery time, but it reaches the depth of the skin and is a highly productive form of skin peeling treatment.

THINGS TO KNOW

Skin peeling can result in an area of the regenerated skin to be lighter than the rest of the skin, rendering the entire feature an odd appearance. Redness and sore skin are expected outcomes of this treatment but are easily treatable.

Most  Skin Peeling treatments performed using natural products are harmless and require minimal aftercare. However, chemical skin peeling treatments have to be followed by proper aftercare for quicker healing.

Sun exposure should be completely avoided for 2-3 days and SPF creams should be used whenever possible.

A person should refrain from swimming for 2 3 days after treatment. Make-up should also be avoided.

Skin Peeling is mostly a potent form of skin healing treatment and might cause some serious side effects if not done carefully.

However, it is greatly advised to get a consultation from Dr Eissan before you opt for the treatment. Her vast experience gives her an advantage of identifying best treatment, and duration. In many cases she might combine different types of treatments to give you the best achievable results. She will explain to you the results you can expect after the treatment and possible side effects you may encounter.
