ABOUT THE TREATMENT
Melasma is a skin disorder that leads dark skin discoloration. It occurs mostly in the facial area but can also appear in other places. It causes brown to grey-brown patches, usually on the face. Most people get it on their cheeks, bridge of their nose, forehead, chin, and above their upper lip. This condition is most common in women with 80% of women suffering of melasma.
The primary cause of this melasma is prolonged exposure to the sun. other causes include genetic predisposition, hormonal changes, and skin irritation.
TYPES OF TREATMENTS
Medications - Prescribed alone or in combination with other treatments.
Injection Mesotherapy - Injection of vitamins, whitening and rejuvenating peptides to give the skin immediate glow. To get good, long lasting results; course of at least 4 sessions should be done at fixed interval then maintenance sessions are advisable.
Chemical peels – Chemical peels are one of the most effective non-invasive treatment options for hyper pigmentation. They include applying certain chemicals on the skin that peel off the upper layer of skin. there are different types of peels can be used;
Light chemical peel– Subtle improvements at first, but that healthy glow will increase with more treatments.
Medium chemical peel– Your skin will be noticeably smoother and fresher looking.
Deep chemical peel– Results are dramatic, but recovery takes the longest.
Microdermabrasion – It utilizes a crystal powder to peeling the dead skin giving even composition and ensures better results of medications applied.
Laser Therapy -Laser plays a role in certain cases but results are not always satisfactory and needs many sessions.
