Warts are small lumps that often grow on the skin of the hands and feet. These growths of the skin are very common and are caused by infection of HPV virus (HPV infection is the most common sexually transmitted disease; Certain forms of the virus can cause cervical cancer.). Warts can differ in appearance, but most are round or oval shaped and have a hard, scaly surface with a small black dot in the centre. They can occur individually or in clusters.

Types of Warts:

​

Flat warts - more common in teens and children than in adults. Flat warts are smoother, flatter, and smaller than other warts and they generally occur on the face.

Plantar warts - usually appear on the soles of the feet. These can be painful when putting pressure on foot while walking. Once the wart has formed, you'll see a circular flat spot on the skin with a depressed area in the middle

Filiform warts -  Filiform warts grow around your mouth or nose and sometimes on your neck or under your chin. They are small and shaped like a tiny flap or tag of skin.

Genital warts - Appear in the pubic area, on the genitals, and/or anal area. They are usually small flesh-coloured or red growths (cauliflower shape) or they may be very tiny and difficult to see.
