Healthy & Radiant while Fasting

As a dermatologist, I understand the importance of keeping our skin healthy during Ramadan, when we fast for long hours without food and water. It can be challenging to maintain a skincare routine during this time, but there are ways to keep our skin nourished and hydrated.

Firstly, it's crucial to stay hydrated during the non-fasting hours to ensure that our skin stays moisturized. Drinking plenty of water, herbal teas, and fresh juices can help to keep our skin healthy from the inside out. However, it's best to avoid caffeinated beverages as they can be dehydrating for our skin.

Secondly, it's essential to keep our skincare routine simple and gentle during Ramadan. We should opt for mild, fragrance-free cleansers that don't strip our skin of its natural oils. It's also advisable to use light, hydrating moisturizers to keep our skin nourished and supple.

Furthermore, we should avoid using harsh exfoliants or scrubs during this time as they can irritate our skin. Instead, we should choose gentle exfoliating cleansers that remove dead skin cells without damaging our skin. It's also best to avoid using chemical-based products that can dry out or damage our skin.

To refresh and rehydrate our skin during the day, we can use facial mists containing natural ingredients like rosewater or chamomile. These mists can soothe and calm our skin, leaving it looking radiant and refreshed.

When we fast during Ramadan, our skin may become more sensitive to the sun, so it's crucial to wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. We should also wear wide-brimmed hats and sunglasses to protect our skin from UV damage.

Finally, getting enough sleep is vital for healthy, glowing skin. During Ramadan, it's essential to aim for at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night to allow our body to rest and rejuvenate. Lack of sleep can cause dark circles, fine lines, and wrinkles, making our skin look dull and tired.

In conclusion, maintaining healthy skin during Ramadan requires some effort, but it doesn't have to be complicated. By keeping our skincare routine simple, staying hydrated, protecting our skin from the sun, and getting enough sleep, we can keep our skin looking healthy and radiant during this holy month.
